Family Time
Last Friday night, our entire household (me, Bubbs, Sarah, Dad, and Mom) watched the two-hour series premiere of Stargate Atlantis on the Sci-fi channel. This is newsworthy event because I can’t remember the last time my entire family (Amanda and Brian are excused from this term since they live in a different household) sat down to watch a TV show together. There are several that most of us watch (Monk, Dead Zone, Stargate SG-1, ER, etc.), but even with those many times we are in two groups: part in the living room and part in the kitchen. And although last Friday Mom fell asleep at some point (as she often does), I think this one counts for family time.
And I have to say it made me a bit nostalgic, harkening back to the days when we would all gather in the living room (in front of a smaller screen, then) and watch Star Trek: The Next Generation or Deep Space Nine or Quantum Leap… Come to think of it, there seems to be a pattern here with sci-fi shows…
Oh, there’s a definite pattern.
