Hollywood Update #1

Filed under: Hollywood — katie @ 5:49 pm

Yes, I’m still going. ;) And, originally, I had been looking at October - not for any particular reason, per se, except that it just… felt right. But recently (yeah, like since MAY), I’ve been facing opposition (more to the timing than the actual going). The opposition isn’t usually outright; it’s more of a “Oh, hm…” or an “Are you sure?” kind of thing.

So I’ve been floundering. God keeps saying the same thing, and I keep asking as though I didn’t hear Him the first time (or second, or third, or…). And, no, God isn’t saying, “OCTOBER!” But He’s still saying, “Go.” And He’s not saying, “Go later.”

So I’m back to looking for a job and a place to live. The later is the most discouraging. Everything is more than I can afford. SUBSTANTIALLY more. I thought about asking for some help from a lady I have contacted in Hollywood (Jeri Penley). But so far, I’ve only thought about it.

But in the midst of all this shakiness and wavering when considering the “practical” side of what’s to come, I find myself with an unshakable confidence in the “big picture” that God has laid out. It is a movement of His hand that will not be stopped; it is coming. And it’s exciting! Especially since we, as the Church, are invited to take part in it!

Bad habit

Filed under: Uncategorized — katie @ 7:01 pm

My dad and I have something in common: we deliberately read things that make us mad. I see an upside to this, however, as it keeps our mental faculties sharp. (We’re good at arguing - about anything.) Most recently (iow, today), I’ve been perusing websites about Michael Moore.

I saw on MSN.com that he is planning on submitting Farenheit: 9/11 to the Academy as a Best Picture nominee. Good, I thought, at least he’s not purporting it as a documentary. Personally, I hope his pride is his downfall (i.e. I hope the Academy laughs in his face), but time will tell. Meanwhile, this story got me thinking (wondering) about a rumor I had heard about his “Bowling for Columbine” crockumentary possibly having its Oscar revoked. Hoping it was true (and had happened), I began a search. I had no luck on (the truly neutral) MSN.com, so I was forced to move to a google search to find what I was looking for. I didn’t have to look far or long. I found a good lot of information on just a very few websites - one of which (a blog, of sorts) I have put a link to (at right). (I highly recommend the entry from 8/30 entitled: An update from the “friggin’ fascists”. It’s a funny story, surprising and yet not.)
